The waters off Vancouver Island are full of stunning marine life. We stayed at the wonderful God's Pocket resort off the North of the island, diving the nearby sites including the famous Browning Wall. We dived in September 2015 and the only slight disappointment was the underwater visibility. As described in National Geographic, we learned later that a huge area of ocean off the North American West Coast had experienced an extended period of raised temperatures, including when we visited, which had led to higher plankton loads than normal, so impacting on underwater clarity. Wolf Eels, Giant Pacific Octopus and Stellars Sea Lions were the standout encounters.
